week 11 part 3

A 2012 logo as designed by one of the students towards the end of the class, brilliant!

week 11 part 2

I was in twice this week, on monday with Mrs Smollets class and on wednesday with Miss Keens class. we looked at creating textured backgrounds by sticking wallpaper, cardboard etc onto board and then working in with a single colour. A lighter or darker shade was added in various ways using rollers, brushes and quite alot of hands! Flicking paint was another popular way of creating unusual patterns. Above is a selection of the students work from the two classes. excellant results all round!

week 11

we are getting very close now to working on the finished artwork, over the past ten weeks we have discussed, investigated and researched a whole range of creative disciplines needed to create our finished artwork. The final piece over eight 30 x 40 canvas's will incorporate elements from all the students work and will reflect not only their ideas and creative ability but also their aspirations for the sporting village and its positive impact on the community as a whole.

week 10

we spoke about all the differant styles and designs of sports clothing, we looked at how these had changed over the years. In particular we looked at how the England football strip had evolved since the first shirts of 1870's which looked very similar to the shirts of the 1960's and how the latest England shirt is very similar in style to the shirts of the 1930's. we discussed retro styling and then the students worked on designing their own sportswear.

Week Eight

This week we concentrated on textures. I brought in lots of differant materials, wallpaper, cardboard, foam etc. I spoke to the students about the added value of working in textures to a painting and we discussed how this process could compliment the design for our project. The students then carried out their own investigations.
